KSA #7: Student NeedsThe teacher will know how to engage students in creating effective classroom routines. They will know how and when to apply a variety of management strategies, in keeping with the situations that provide for minimal disruptions to learning.
During my PS2 practicum, I developed classroom routines for the students that gave them a description of what to be expected for the lesson. For some students, this made all of the difference because they knew what to expect and when to expect it, and they could keep track of how the lesson was progressing.
KSA #8: RelationshipsThe teacher will know how to establish, with different students, progressional relationships that are characterized by mutual respect, trust, and harmony.
The school where I had done my PS2 practicum had thank-you cards that teachers could send out to specific students to acknowledge something they had done. I found that once I started to use these cards, I created some really great relationships with my students and they understood that I acknowledged and saw them in my classroom.

KSA #12: Parental InvolvementThe teacher will know how to develop and implement strategies that create and enhance partnerships among teachers, parents, and students.
As Director of Tutoring Services with the EUS, I had a lot of involvement and communication with parents, including a new system that was implemented to increase communication with parents.
Additionally, the letter that I send home to parents when I am starting in a new school is included as well. |
